Femke van Zeijl

Femke van Zeijl is a Dutch journalist and writer living and working in Lagos, Nigeria, as a freelance correspondent. She has written several nonfiction books on Africa south of the Sahara, one of which, Gin-Tonic & Cholera, covers the topic of urbanisation. For that book she lived in six African cities, from Maputo in Mozambique to Bobo-Dioulasso in Burkina Faso, to describe everyday urban life. Her third book and first novel Koning van de barraca’s (King of the barracas) was recently published in the Netherlands.
